The good news is that to grow your coaching business means to reach more of the people we want to help. Many dream of becoming a coach – unfortunately, so many new coaches falter. But why is that?

Well, being a good coach is only one part of the equation. Skills like marketing, client relations, and the ability to manage the “business of coaching” successfully are far more important than one may initially think. Let’s begin now with these tips to grow your coaching business next year.

Grow Your Visibility

You can grow your visibility at several different levels.

Level 1: Social Media [types: short content, long blog posts, video, audio] The most basic way to up your game is to refine your social media presence. Consistency with your posting and content is key.

Level 2: True visibility comes from growing your reach beyond your current network. To do this, network in other groups online, connect with colleagues and other experts and partner up. If you are comfortable speaking, work to be a guest on podcasts. If you are a writer, get your articles into larger publications. When you do this, you will exponentially expand your exposure to prospective clients because you’ll be reaching new and wider audiences.

Level 3: Pay attention to what is going on in your community and when the subject matter is pertinent, offer yourself to be interviewed by the media. They are often looking for contributors. If you really enjoyed being a guest,  start your own podcast. The pinnacle of visibility will be in creating your own events or conferences based around your expert subject matter. Try an online one! This format has taken off since the pandemic and can be very impactful.

Systematize the business and marketing tasks you do repeatedly.

The point of all of these tips is to help save time in one area to allow focus in profit building activities.

Be strategic with generative AI

Consider how generative AI can be integrated into your business strategy to create new possibilities across industries. We previously discussed our incorporation of AI into our training process.

Solidify your client onboarding process.

Your onboarding process sets the stage for new clients to work with you, so you want to take care to put together a thoughtful, client-centric onboarding process.  This process should include everything from an initial welcome email, client intake form, a coaching agreement, payment methods, and process for scheduling sessions, as well as instructions on how to best communicate with you in between sessions. Now is a great time to update these processes or put them in place for the new year. Speaking of clients, make sure you are super clear on your ideal clients, and what their problem is right now. If you try to sell to everyone, you sell to no one. I’m sure this is not news to you. But most people resist niching down because they’re afraid of leaving people out.
